TRUE or LIE.

We meet a lot of pictures in the internet. And sometimes we just don't know if they are real or false. 

I made a collection of photos with different versions of descriptions that you have probably already seen many times. But, may be you don't know which photos are real and which are not.


Story: A very « open » wedding dress.
Verdict: TRUE. The wedding took place in Russia, the fiancée is called Anna Atamanchuk and she’s a belly dancer.

Story: A duck is stealing money from a woman while she’s occupied with the little ducks.
Verdict: LIE. The photo was taken during the shooting of a commercial.

Story: This towboat is going underneath the bridge and then coming out of it from the other side.
Verdict: TRUE. It happened between 1978 and 1979 in Alabama.

Strory: Underwater restaurant.
Verdict: TRUE. It’s an Ithaa restaurant that sits 15 feet below the waves of the Indian Ocean, offering diners 270-degrees of panoramic underwater views.










Story: A house of Tiger Woods.
Verdict: LIE. Of course, Tiger Woods could probably live in the place like this. Only in 2004 he earned $80 million dollars.
But this is not his mansion. What you see on the photos is the Golden Conch. It is an incredible beachfront estate of 9,000 square feet of pure luxury built in on the Hawaiian island of Maui. If you’re looking a place for your next vacation this could be it for only $6,000-9,000 per night.










Story: You can see a very long and high bridge on this photo.
Verdict: TRUE. This "high drive" Millau bridge is located in southern France,
over the River Tarn in the Massif Central mountains.
It was opened in December 2004. And it is the highest bridge in the world.


Story: A mermaid found on Lolo Island Abu Dhabi
Verdict: LIE. It’s just an artwork of Juan Cabana. He was selling it on Ebay in 2006.









Story: A water bridge in Germany.
Verdict: TRUE. This is a channel-bridge over the River Elbe and joins the former East and West Germany, as part of the unification project. It is located in the city of Magdeburg, near Berlin. It has been built in 2003.


Story: Because of a bad cover design of the magazine Parents it’s name can be read as Penis. 
Verdict: LIE. It was photoshopped.


Stroy: One American woman who didn’t use to the manual transmission and hit about 136 miles on the first speed in Hungary in the rental car.
Verdict: LEI. First of all, it was a man, and second, the problem was in the faulty engine. The photos were taken by an insurance expert.




Story: The police place photo radars in the wheeled bins.
Verdict: TRUE. It is common in Canada, Australia and Germany. 





Story: A Japanese subway instructions:
Give up your seat to:
1) passengers with a traumatized hand
2) passengers with children
3) pregnant women 
4) passengers with a traumatized leg
Verdict: LIE. The original picture is below.



Story: Inscription on tombstone forms FUCK YOU.
Verdict: TRUE. This tombstone is located in Montreal in µMount Royal Cemetery. Here lies the man named John McCaffree. He died in 1995 at the age of 44.
The monument maker said that this tombstone was ordered by his ex-wife and his mistress. 



Strory: A town called ‘Fucking’ in Austria
Verdict: TRUE. It really exists )



Story: A photograph of Brian Peppers arrested for a sexual offense
Verdict: TRUE. This is a real person and it was not photoshopped.
Brian Peppers was arrested in 1998 for Gross Sexual Imposition in Lucas Country, Ohio.
The second picture is from his high school photo album. 



Story: Dog rescue from an animal hospital during Hurricane Katrina.
Verdict: TRUE. 


Stroy: a police camera registered a car flying at 133 mph during Hurricane Katrina. 
Verdict: LIE. It was photoshopped. The original photo was taken in Florida in 2004 during another hurricane. 



Story: The tsunami strikes the capital of Thailand. 
Verdict: LIE. It is a manipulated picture of the city of Antofagasta in Chile. 


Story: A sandstorm in Iraq
Verdict: TRUE. Al Asad, Iraq, 26 April 2005







Story: A bear shaped cloud.
Verdict: LIE. This photograph is a still frame taken from the French movie Amélie. 


Story: A triple waterspout in the Golf of Mexico
Verdict: LIE. The original picture is below.



Strory: Americans found a MiG-25 (NATO reporting name "Foxbat") in Iraq.
Verdict: TRUE. Mig-25 is a high-supersonic interceptor and reconnaissance/bomber aircraft designed by the Soviet Union's Mikoyan-Gurevich bureau.

Do you remember these pictures? They made their tour on the internet.
And everybody was chocked. Like, how can they do this to themselves and etc.

All these photos passed through Photoshop. It’s not surprising. A few manipulations and the girls from a concentration camp are ready.

The car slid off the road, hit the guardrail and stopped on the edge of the cliff.

The accident happened on 30 December, 2006 on State Route 59, Utah. 
The police confirmed that these pictures corresponded to the road accident that occurred there that day. 










Story #3

Eagle painted helicopter.

It is the Mi-24 Hind that belongs to the Hungarian Air Force.
But it has been decommissioned in 2004 no longer exists.










Story #4

A man is falling from a building and people at a window are trying to catch him.
This picture was in the internet with such description: “A friend of mine sent me this unbelievable picture…It’s not a fake”

It’s a photograph of Li Wei that dates from 2003.










Story #5

A Boeing 737 is losing its tail after a mid-air collision. The plane crashed in Brazil. The Story #5 claims that these pictures were taken by one of the passengers just before it hit the ground. The pictures were removed from the camera’s memory stick. Thanks to the camera’s serial number its owner could be found. He survived the accident and now has a wife and two girls.

These pictures have nothing to do with an accident. These are screen shots from the popular series “LOST”. Those who knew this series had already recognized it. Those who didn’t, started to post them on the forums. 










Story #6

A dumb photographer jumps from one rock to another in the Grand Canyon to take a picture of a sunset.
The depth of the Canyon here is 900 meters.

The pictures are real. This place is very popular among tourists. The fact is that, the whole between two rocks is only of 1, 5 meter depth and is safe. You can see it on the last picture. But because of the pictures’ angle it gives an illusion that there’s a real whole and that the photographer is risking his life by jumping around.

The police are carrying Ronald McDonald by the hands.

Story #8

A guy has been living 8 years in this apartment in Ogden, Utah. The owner said he was the best renter because he never complained. After he left the apartment, the owner changed his mind and said it was “the sickest thing he’s ever seen’.

They estimated there were 70.000 empty beer cans. Has he really drank nearly 24 beer cans average per day? Maybe he brought them already empty, the mystery remains.

During the construction of a 80 storey building in Dubai, the water from the bay broke the wall and overwhelmed the site.

On the 13th of October, 2004 a passenger of AirTran Airline took this picture during the flight. They made a u-turn for the plane to be repaired. In fact, it was not as bad as it looks on the pic.
